During our studies, we had a cooperation project with the technology company «ABB». Each person in our class developed a design concept for their MCS plug (mega charging system). This was used to charge trucks with electricity in a short time. It was important to me to adapt the design language from ABB’s existing products and to incorporate their color code. I focused on a robust, durable and intuitive design which should not appear too clunky and rigid. I used the black elements such as the handle and the belly to signal the plug’s indicator functions. They serve as orientation and show the touch and grip points of the object. The thin red line at the back provides a subtle color contrast and gives the plug a certain sportiness and dynamism.
